Late Registration II City Screen York
March 8 @ 9:00 am - April 12 @ 5:00 pm
Join us on Friday 8th of March the launch night of our new Art Exhibition titled, ‘Late Registration II’. After a first successful exhibit at THE SOCIAL will be running a second exhibit at York’s City Screen.
Introducing, Dan Howden and Angus Vasili.
Self-taught in linocut, Dan began printing 6 years ago whilst studying art foundation at York College, where he founded his unorthodox approach to print.
Usually containing somewhere between 40-80 layers, his linocuts are laborious and often resemble paintings rather than prints, resulting in colourful, detailed scenes and small editions.
Heavily inspired by nostalgia, Dan looks to capture ambience within his prints, referencing photographs he’s taken whilst travelling on solo expeditions.
Loneliness is a theme present in every facet of his practice and his eye is often drawn towards empty space neighbouring social activity.
Angus Vasili is a silkscreen obsessive, currently working from a make shift print studio in York. A process driven printmaker, using abstract concepts to define the rules of each project. Angus‘ pieces are bold, bright and colourful prints inspired by traditional and contrary architecture. His of work usually involve a combination of photography, architecture and texture which are highly experimental and constantly evolving.
